Insomnia in pregnancy…..when did it start for you?
I am nearly 8 months and at night time, I can't get a wink of sleep. No matter how hard I try. I was just wondering how many other ladies are the same and when did it start and did it stop before the birth of your child…This is real torcher… Extreme tiredness but no relief…I am able to cat nap for couple of hours in the late morning.. That's what is keeping me!!
I have chronic insomnia, not related to pregnancy. Some suggestions that might help.
Sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees. Women late in pregnancy are more prone to apnea episodes, which can constantly wake you up. Less likely to occur lying on your side. Also, those thick memory foam mattress covers (see link below for an example) do help considerably for comfort (but realize if you co-sleep later, they are not safe for infants). You can get different thicknesses, but I have a 2.5 inch one I bought at Sams Club and it made a huge difference in comfort. Disadvantage? It is warmer, so if you don't have A/C, it may not help.
I also discovered recently that running a fan continuously can also help you sleep - the white noise blocks out neighborhood sounds. Anyway, these suggestions do help so that you don't keep waking up, but may not be so useful if you just can't fall asleep.

With my first 2 it was about 34 weeks or so… with this one, im not far enough along yet, but not looking forward to no sleep…

32-34 weeks for me. I have a problem with rolling onto my back and waking constantly.
Now at almost 39 weeks I am having 'false labor' esp. at night and I cannot sleep.
I'm sleeping now usually from 3-4 am to 10-11 am (disturbed sleeping) but better than nothing.

Hi.Congratulations on your pregnancy. I was about 28 weeks when i started not being able to sleep. Im sorry but mine lasted until the end and my lttle one is now 3 months and ive hardly slept ince. My advice to you now is to try your best to sleep as much as you possibly can (easier said than done i know) and take advantage of those spare minutes you have in the day. Good luck, Happy sleeping
